Every garage door opened should have an emergency release cord. It usually has a red handle. The cord can be pulled in the event that your electric garage door opened isn’t functioning. This happens when the power is out or when the opener itself isn’t working properly.
Specifically, the emergency release cord (AKA The red rope) to be UL Code 325 complaint, needs to be:
- Able to Be Detailed (Aka Released)
- At maximum, be within 6 Feet Reach From the Surface of the Ground
- Be Colored Red Rope
- Red Rope to Be Pulled With 50 Lbs of Pressure or more
