Written Step Guide
- Hold Shield in position against J-Arm and align Brace assembly for best fit.
- Position high as possible (see video). Snap together.
- Tighten the Thumb Screw to secure in place (without over tightening).
- Optional: Loop emergency rope behind Thumb Screw to further secure from reach.
- Warning: If you have windows, black them out. Garage windows act like X-ray vision for a criminal lock picker.
This is not required, because a criminal is attempting to catch the metal latch, not the rope (the rope is too difficult to reach). *UL Code 325 requires the emergency rope handle to be no further than 6 feet distance from the floor of the garage to the red handle.

How To Assemble Brace
(If the Clip is not yet on the Brace)
- Push U-Clip onto Brace and align with the small hole on the side.
- Partially screw Thumb Screw into U-Clip and hole (see close up).
- Push both Fasteners into Brace.
- Pre-fold the Brace to get a feel for how it wraps around the J-Arm.
How To Remove Fasteners
Accidentally pre-assembled the Garage Shield? Can't get the clips out? Try this:

What About The Rope
The rope doesn't matter. The criminal cannot easily catch the rope, it's too hard to do. They are trying to hook the metal latch the rope is attached to (it's stable and doesn't move around).
More importantly, you need to keep the rope hanging within access to 6 feet above the ground, to be compliant with regulations.
Thumb Screw Tightness
Do NOT over-tighten the screw. It only needs to be held in place, not over tightened until it bulges out and misaligns the shield.
Garage Windows
If you have windows, black them out. Letting someone see into your garage lets them know ahead of time if they want something bad enough. Plus, it gives them X-ray vision to pick the lock.

One Door Down. What About The Others?
Most homes have one garage entry. Many have two or three, plus extended family who probably should have one too.
